Navigator presents technology applied to tissue paper at the Hygienalia Fair

The Navigator Company will be present, with its tissue area, at the Hygienalia Fair, which will take place between the 7th and 9th of November, in Madrid. The company will meet in hall 3, stand H60. The participation in the largest professional cleaning and hygiene event is strategic to present the most recent and innovative solutions developed by the Company, which is today the second largest player in the Iberian tissue market.

A prominent place will be given to the innovation “textured technology”, dedicated to the professional channel (away from home). According to laboratory studies, this technology provides the paper with a 35% increase in volume, a 22% increase in absorption speed and a 10% increase in paper resistance. Additionally, this range reinforces competitiveness and efficiency through 290 mm services, in order to optimize daily consumption.

This Navigator DNA of innovation has led to the development of several paper products, based on eucalyptus fiber. These include Aquactive, a new generation of tissue paper with incorporated soap, which is activated in contact with water, immediately producing soap foam; Air Sense, the first to be launched on the Iberian market with perfume capsules embedded in paper, allowing controlled and prolonged fragrance release for 24 days; and Calorie Control, with micro-alveoli created to increase the effectiveness of absorbing fats from freshly fried foods.

Navigator sells an extensive range of tissue paper products, produced in two industrial units in Portugal – Aveiro (Cacia) and Vila Velha de Rodão, and also in Spain, at the Ejea de Los Caballeros unit (Zaragoza).

Tissue maintains growth trajectory

It is worth remembering that Navigator entered this segment in 2015, through the acquisition of the company AMS in Vila Velha de Ródão, a unit that currently has an annual capacity of 60 thousand tons. This was followed, in 2018, by the construction of the tissue industrial complex in Aveiro (70 thousand tons per year), interconnected with the Navigator pulp factory. In 2023, the acquisition of the Ejea de los Caballeros manufacturing unit, near Zaragoza, was completed, which provides over 35 thousand tons of paper production and up to 60 thousand tons of finished products.

The acquisition of the Gomà-Camps Group’s Consumer Tissue business this year is part of the Navigator Group’s ambitious growth and diversification plan, which, in just 8 years, stands out as the 2nd largest Iberian player, with an annual capacity production of 165 thousand tons.

The focus on innovation and product differentiation has allowed the company to achieve customer preference. Navigator bets on growth in consumption (At Home) and in the professional channel (Away from Home), which has been possible through great confidence in its value proposition.

In the first 9 months of this year, the tissue paper segment maintained its great performance, with finished product sales registering a sustained growth. Tissue sales volume reached 102 thousand tons in the first three quarters of 2023, an increase of 32% compared to the same period last year, with the evolution of prices leading to an increase in sales value of around 51%.

This increase benefited from the integration of the new factory in Zaragoza, called Navigator Tissue Ejea since the 2nd quarter of this year, which contributed to boosting sales growth, customer base diversification and relevant gains in integration synergies.
